Help clean up the National Military Park this Saturday
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — As part of the American Battlefield Trust Park Day, locals can help the Vicksburg National Military Park by volunteering to help clean it this Saturday, April 25.
The park is participating in a nationwide event focused on cleaning up and preserving America’s battlefields. Volunteers across the country will participate in projects at historic sites from the Revolutionary War and Civil War eras.
This year, Vicksburg National Military Park will focus efforts on Grant’s Canal, working to clear walkways, remove debris, clean signage, and repaint bollards.
The event will be held at the park, located at 3201 Clay St, Vicksburg, MS 39183, from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. Volunteers will meet at the Visitor Center for a brief overview before heading to the site to begin work. It is a great opportunity to give back, connect with others, and help care for one of the park’s important historic areas.
