Thank you for 11 million plus views
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Daily News has averaged over 11 million social media views in the last 28 days. These are primarily local views from Vicksburg and the surrounding areas.
If we include Keith Phillips’ 5.1 million views on a single story, the total is 36 million over the past three months. That’s a lot of views for a town of 20,000.
On behalf of the Vicksburg Daily News, thank you! You’ve shown us time and time again that you want local news from locally owned sources. As Vicksburg’s only locally owned news source, we are committed to getting you the news. We support you, the people, over corporate profits or placating locally elected officials. We work for you.
The community has come to trust the Vicksburg Daily News as the place “Where Vicksburg gets its news”. You know we aren’t going to sugarcoat a story, and we don’t have an agenda. We’ve also gained a reputation for holding elected officials accountable. We work for you, the people, and take our responsibility as the Fourth Estate seriously.
The role of a newspaper is to report the news and to hold locally elected officials and their appointees accountable for their actions. There has been a push by corporate media outlets to cultivate close relationships with elected officials and their appointees. They take that approach because it’s an easy way to get favoritism for stories and ads.
At the Vicksburg Daily News, we take our role seriously and will not sell our integrity to get along with a politician. We work for you. We believe the citizens of Vicksburg and the state of Mississippi deserve a press that works for them.
Thank you for your continued support of Vicksburg’s only locally owned news source.
