VICKSBURG, Miss. – The National Weather Service in Jackson is reporting a wet weather pattern will produce three to four inches of rain next week.
On Tuesday and continuing through Thursday our area is projected to receive heavy rainfall up to three or four inches. The three to four inches of rain will produce minor flooding in low-lying and urban areas. A wet weather pattern will support multiple rounds of rainfall resulting in heavy overall rainfall totals. This will likely lead to at least minor river flooding, and there may also be flooding of low-lying and urban areas.
Be safe during a flood event. Do not cross roadways that are flooded. Most people who drown during a flood do so while trying to cross a flooded roadway. Turn around, don’t drown. Avoid driving through flooded roadways and large puddles. Be safe and slow down when roadways are wet. If you can, stay away from outer lanes where water tends to accumulate. When appropriate, drive in the water tracks from the vehicle in front of you.
