Bond lowered for Vicksburg murder suspect in 2023 teen killing
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Bond has been lowered for a Vicksburg man accused in the 2023 murder of a 13-year-old boy.
During a hearing Thursday morning, 19-year-old Phillip Moore Jr. had his bond reduced to $100,000. Moore remains in the Warren County Jail on charges of murder and three counts of aggravated assault.
Moore was represented by attorney Michael Winfield, who told the court that his client had been incarcerated since he was 16 years old. Winfield said Moore previously served time for a malicious mischief charge and has remained in custody while awaiting trial on the current charges.
Moore is one of four defendants charged in the shooting death of 13-year-old Carleone Woodland in 2023. The other defendants include Koury Demichael Lawrence, Demetrius Lee Cormier, and Demarcus Quinterious Wilson. Winfield noted that all of Moore’s co-defendants have had their bonds reduced since their initial arrests.
After hearing arguments, Judge Terrett agreed to lower Moore’s bond to $100,000, warning him that any violation of bond conditions would result in his immediate return to jail until trial.
