A Vicksburg woman is turning to the community for help as she searches for a living related coverage.

Ellen Jean James is battling long-term kidney disease and facing the possibility of losing function in both kidneys. James recently reached out through social media and local media in hopes of finding a potential donor.

For most of my life, Ive tried to be the person who helps others. I never imagined there would come a day when I would have to ask others for this kind of help, James wrote on Facebook.

James said her battle with kidney disease has been a long and difficult journey involving numerous doctor visits, procedures and hospital stays.

My journey with kidney disease has been long and difficult, with many doctor visits, procedures, hospital stays, and days when I have had to depend on my faith to keep going, she wrote.

Living Kidney Donor Needed

According to a flyer shared by James, dialysis would only provide a temporary solution, and she believes a kidney transplant offers her best hope for a healthier and longer life.

James is asking anyone who might consider becoming a living kidney donor to reach out. She noted that a transplant team would determine whether donation is safe for a potential donor and whether that person could be a match.

How to Help

If becoming a living kidney donor is something you would consider, please read my flyer below and reach out to me, James wrote. The transplant team would determine whether donation is safe and whether you could be a match.

For those who are unable to donate, James is asking them to help spread the word by sharing her story and keeping her in their prayers.

I am putting this journey in Gods hands, keeping my faith, and trusting that the right person will see this message, James wrote. Please pray for me. Please share my story.

Anyone interested in learning more or potentially helping James can contact her at 601-831-8608 or ellenjames1956@yahoo.com.
