Two fires in Vicksburg damage homes

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Two separate fires cause damage to two homes in Vicksburg.
Thursday night at about 9:20 p.m., neighbors called in to report there was heavy smoke in the area of Belva and Alfa Drive. The Vicksburg Fire Department responded to the area and discovered a small fire at the damaged home on 301 Belva Drive, according to Fire Chief Derrick Stamps.

“At approximately 9:19 p.m., the Vicksburg Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 301 Belva Drive. Upon arrival, firefighters noticed smoke coming from the structure. Crews conducted an interior attack and successfully extinguished the fire, containing it to the room of origin. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.”
Fire on Irene Street
This morning at 6:30 a.m., Vicksburg firefighters reported to a structure fire at 153 Irene Street in the Kings Community. Smoke and flames were visible. When firefighters arrived flames were reportedly “pouring from the structure.”

“At around 6:30 a.m., the Vicksburg fire Department quickly responded to a fire at 172 Irene Street. When they arrived, firefighters encountered flames pouring from the building,” said Chief Stamps in a text message. “…the firefighters worked hard to contain the blaze, successfully stopping its spread and preventing further damage to the structure.”
