Vicksburg man wanted for Agg. Assault after Alcorn Drive shooting

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Police Department has issued an active warrant for Chris Jones for Aggravated Assault stemming from a domestic related issue where another relative was shot on Alcorn Drive yesterday evening, according to Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones.

On Sunday evening, July 6, 2025, at approximately 7:58 PM, officers responded to the 100 block of Alcorn Drive in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a 20-year-old Black male victim had sustained a gunshot wound and was being transported to Merit Health River Region for emergency treatment.

Officers followed the vehicle to the hospital, where the victim received immediate medical attention before being transferred to UMMC for further evaluation.

The suspect, identified as Chris Jones (DOB: 12/25/1990), is currently wanted for Aggravated Assault. The incident stemmed from a domestic-related dispute, during which another relative was shot.

Jones fled the scene in a black Chevrolet Impala with black rims. The Vicksburg Police Department has issued active warrants for his arrest.
