Vicksburg native Dwike Wilson joins Ole Miss football staff

OXFORD, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg native Dwike Wilson has joined the Ole Miss football program as the new Senior Executive Director of Recruiting.
Wilson most recently served as the cornerbacks coach at Old Dominion University. Before that, he spent two seasons at Southern Miss, where he helped guide a secondary that contributed to nine interceptions in his first year. Despite dealing with multiple injuries that forced two wide receivers to switch to defensive back, Wilson’s unit remained competitive through the end of the season.
Prior to Southern Miss, Wilson spent two years at South Alabama. In 2022, he helped the Jaguars win 10 games and reach the New Orleans Bowl, setting school records for total wins and conference victories. That season, South Alabama ranked No. 25 nationally in total defense (331.5 yards per game) and No. 30 in interceptions (13). Wilson coached All-Sun Belt cornerback Darrell Luter Jr., who posted 42 tackles, seven pass breakups and one interception.
In 2021, Wilson helped the Jaguars match school records with 15 interceptions and 25 takeaways, while also finishing with the second-most sacks in program history. Luter again stood out, finishing among the top five nationally in passes defended.
Wilson also served two years at Indiana as director of player personnel and high school relations, helping the Hoosiers to a 14-7 record, including a 6-2 Big Ten finish and a No. 12 AP ranking in 2020.
His coaching resume includes stints at Jones College, Hinds Community College, North Carolina A&T, Murray State, and Itawamba Community College. At Hinds CC, Wilson played quarterback and helped lead the Eagles to a state championship in 1997. He later served as a student assistant at Ole Miss, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.
