PORT GIBSON, Miss. (VDN) — Rakeem Davis, a Port Gibson native and standout defensive lineman at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, has committed to Troy University. Davis announced his decision Sunday on his social media page, marking the next step in a rapidly rising career.

Davis helped lead Co-Lin to an impressive 8-2 record during the 2025 season. He finished the year with 29 tackles and 1.5 sacks, building on a strong freshman campaign in 2024 in which he recorded 18 tackles and one sack. Known for his power and consistency in the trenches, Davis has earned a reputation as one of Co-Lin’s most reliable defensive contributors.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds, Davis brings size, athleticism and experience that Troy coaches expect to translate well at the Division I level. His addition is anticipated to strengthen the Trojans’ defensive front.

A 2024 graduate of Port Gibson High School, Davis played under Head Coach Harry Brown, where he first established himself as a dominant force on the defensive line. His commitment to Troy marks another milestone in a promising football career.
