Ward 1 names December Yard of the Month

VICKSBURG, Miss., (VDN) — Vicksburg Ward 1 Alderman TJ Mayfield announced 2501 Cherry Street as the recipient of Ward’s December Yard of the Month award. This well-maintained property earned this honor after receiving 78% of the total votes in a community Facebook poll hosted on the Ward 1 social media page.

Each month, residents are encouraged to nominate and vote for homes that exemplify pride in ownership and community spirit. The October competition drew strong participation, highlighting Ward 1 residents’ dedication to keeping their neighborhoods vibrant and welcoming.

“Community engagement like this is what makes Ward 1 so special,” said Alderman Mayfield. “The residents at 2501 Cherry Street have done a great job maintaining a yard that truly boosts the beauty of Ward 1. I’m grateful to everyone who voted and the people who continue to take pride in Vicksburg’s neighborhoods. This yard also had a nice touch of Christmas decorations that enhanced the holiday vibe.”

The Yard of the Month program recognizes homeowners who go above and beyond to beautify their properties and inspire others to do the same. Winners receive public recognition from Alderman Mayfield and a Yard of the Month sign to display throughout the following month.
