Mutual Credit Union donates $3,000 to Vicksburg Family Development Service
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Mutual Credit Union has donated $3,000 to Vicksburg Family Development Service, offering support to the longtime community organization during the holiday season.
The credit union announced the contribution in a Facebook post earlier this week, noting its appreciation for the opportunity to assist the program.
“The Mutual Credit Union Charitable Foundation is excited to sponsor the Vicksburg Family Development Service this Christmas,” the post said. “Since 1977, Vicksburg Family Development Service has served as a primary prevention, early intervention program whose purpose is to provide parents with the knowledge, skills, and support necessary to promote positive outcomes for their children and themselves. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support such meaningful work in our community!”
Vicksburg Family Development Service has worked for nearly five decades to provide resources for parents and children. The program began with a focus on early childhood development and continues to serve first- and second-time parents and their children from prenatal stages to age 4.
In 1991, the organization expanded by adding a mentoring program for girls ages 10 to 18. A boys’ mentoring program, Male Image, followed in 1994. Both components broadened VFDS’s reach, continuing its mission of strengthening families and promoting positive youth development across Warren County.
