Warren Central football team honored with Key to the City
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Josh Morgan and the Warren Central High School football team were presented with the Key to the City on Monday during a parade held in honor of the Vikings’ MHSAA Class 6A state championship.
The prestigious honor was awarded near the conclusion of the ceremony, with Alderman T.J. Mayfield, Alderwoman Vickie Bailey and Mayor Willis Thompson presenting the key to Morgan, Warren Central’s head football coach.
Warren Central finished the 2025 season with a 12-2 record and captured the program’s Class 6A state title. Morgan was recognized for his leadership by earning both the Class 6A Head Coach of the Year award and the Vicksburg Daily News Head Coach of the Year honor.
The Vikings’ success extended beyond the win-loss column, as 23 players were named to the All-District Team, while eight athletes earned All-State honors.
Earlier this month, Warren Central secured the championship with a 56-34 victory over Hattiesburg High School in the state title game, capping off a historic season for the program.
