Warren Central ninth-grade boys stay unbeaten with road win over Pearl
PEARL, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School’s ninth-grade boys’ basketball team continued its strong start to the season with a 52-38 road victory over Pearl on Thursday night. The Vikings remain undefeated under Head Coach Calvin Morgan.
Warren Central held a slim 17-14 lead at halftime but pulled away in the second half with balanced scoring and solid defense. Jordan Taylor led the charge with a standout performance, knocking down two 3-pointers and finishing with 16 points. Cameron Zellous also scored in double figures with 13 points, while Henry Trisby contributed nine. Jordan Younger and Braylen Selvy each added five points, and Ja’Ven Lee chipped in four to round out the scoring.
The Vikings will look to keep their unbeaten streak alive when they travel to face Rosa Scott on Monday.
Across town, the Vicksburg High School freshmen boys came up just short in a 44-41 loss to Brandon High School.
Chareck Cable and Daylen Atkins led the Gators with 11 points apiece, while Antwuan Chiplin added six. Cayleb Logan and Gerrick Durrell each scored five points, and Noah Bass finished with two.
Vicksburg will host Germantown on Monday as they look to bounce back and they will also host Madison on Thursday.
