WCJHS, VHS and WC freshmen boys’ basketball teams picked up Monday night victories

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN)— Warren Central’s eighth- and ninth-grade boys’ basketball teams picked up victories on Monday night, along with the Vicksburg High School ninth-grade boys’ team.

Warren Central 8th Grade

The Vikings defeated Ridgeland 27-24.

Stats:

  • Michael Banks Jr. — 7 points
  • Darius O’Neal — 5 points
  • Andrew Patten Jr. — 4 points
  • Troy Thomas — 4 points
  • Jayden Green — 4 points (hit two crucial free throws in the fourth quarter)
  • Gayvin Turner — 3-pointer in the third quarter

WCJHS will host Pearl on Thursday. They are 2-1 on the season.

Warren Central 9th Grade

The Vikings defeated Ridgeland 72-54.

Stats:

  • Jordan Taylor — 17 points
  • Cameron Zellous — 16 points
  • Braylen Selvy — 15 points
  • Ja’Ven Lee — 12 points
  • Henry Trisby — 10 points
  • Jordan Younger — 2 points

Head coach: Calvin Morgan

The Vikings will travel will travel to play Pearl on Thursday night. The Vikings are 3-0.

Vicksburg High School 9th Grade

The Gators defeated Clinton 39-23.

Stats:

Daylon Washington and Ayden Smothers — 2 points

Antwuan Chiplin — 15 points

Chareck Cable — 9 points

Gerrick Durrell — 6 points

Noah Bass — 6 points(two 3-pointers)

Cayleb Logan – 4 points

VHS will be on the road on Monday to face Brandon High School. The Gators are 2-1 on the year.
