Zion Harvey scores 25 points in her first collegiate game
GOODMAN, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg native Zion Harvey made an impressive college basketball debut Saturday, scoring 25 points for Holmes Community College in a narrow 68-66 loss to Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
Harvey, a freshman guard, led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring while also contributing two steals, two assists and two rebounds. Her strong performance marked a standout start to her collegiate career as Holmes CC opened its season at home.
Harvey signed with Holmes in February after a standout career at Vicksburg High School under Head Coach Troy Stewart. A 2025 VHS graduate, she averaged nearly 30 points per game as a senior and guided the Missy Gators to the playoffs. Harvey chose Holmes over several other offers, including Fort Scott, Co-Lin, Mississippi Delta and Jones College.
Joining Harvey on the roster is former high school teammate Cynia Johnson, who added four points and six rebounds in Saturday’s contest.
Holmes also saw solid production from Kelsey Joseph, who scored 13 points, while Kiara Shelley finished with eight and Stella Harvard chipped in six.
The Lady Bulldogs will look to bounce back when they host Delgado Community College on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in Goodman.
