The Vikings are one step closer to going to state as they knocked off Center Hill 7-3 in game one on Friday.

Hayes Loper brought in the first two runs from a solid double to put WC up 2-0. CH responded with three runs of their own after a home run by Green and a sacrifice from McCool. The first inning would be Center Hill’s best as the Vikings didn’t allow another run in the win.

As Conner Watkins stepped up to the plate in the second, he popped a nice double as Cole Autrey and Ryan Nelson took off to home plate. Hayes Loper contributed next with a crucial single that paved the way for Ryan Steed to earn the run just before Trace Hood smashed a double to bring in the final two runs to give WC the 7-3 lead.

Some solid pitching by Watkins late in the game sealed the deal for WC as he ended the night with three strikeouts. Maddox Lunch, Watkins(2 RBIs), Nelson, and Hood(2 RBIs) all had one hit while Loper finished with two(3 RBIs).

WC will host CH tomorrow at 7 p.m. where if they pull off a win they will be heading to state.
