Vicksburg, Miss. – Both Warren Central High School soccer teams defeated Vicksburg High on Tuesday. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams came out victorious with the district win.

Girls:

A battle between the rival schools was something special to witness last night as the Lady Vikes came out with a 2-0 victory.

“It’s good going into Christmas with a good record and it’s good for the girl’s morale,” WC Head Soccer Coach Jeremy Lawrence said. “In the first half, Vicksburg wanted it more but we used that as motivation to get back on track.”

Laney Bull got the first goal for WC and Melissa Herrle earned the second goal. Jordan Polk got both assists for the Lady Vikes while Hayleigh Simmons grabbed nine saves.

Although the Missy Gators were unable to get on the board, Head Coach Maurice Gilliam was pleased with their performance.

“We just have to fix a few things but I’m proud of them because this is a tough level and we’re really improving but we’re going to keep playing and developing,” Gilliam said.

Boys:

On the boys’ side, WC controlled the whole game as they came out with a 7-0 win.
