WCJHS defeats VJHS 22-0

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central Junior High shut out crosstown rival Vicksburg Junior High 22-0 on Tuesday in the final game of the season for both schools.

The game opened with a defensive battle as Malcolm Turner intercepted a pass for the Gators in the first quarter, keeping the score knotted at 0-0.
Vicksburg quarterback Brandon Smith Jr. scrambled for key gains in the second quarter, but the offense stalled short of the end zone. Messiah Robinson hauled in several long passes to keep the drive alive, though the Gators couldn’t convert.

The Vikings struck first when Jaydon Green intercepted a pass, setting up a long run by Richard Albert. Warren Central pinned the Gators deep on a punt, and the defense forced a safety to go up 2-0. On the ensuing possession, Andrew Patten capped the drive with a short touchdown run, extending the lead to 8-0 before halftime.
Warren Central pulled away in the second half. Albert broke free for an 80-yard touchdown run, and Green later connected with Michael Banks Jr. for a 10-yard score. Demetrius Clark added a two-point conversion to seal the 22-0 win.

Warren Central is coached by Louis Green, while Vicksburg is led by Larry Carter Jr.
