Vicksburg, Warren Central 9th grade boys earn Thursday wins

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg High School and Warren Central freshmen basketball boys’ teams earned wins on Thursday night.

VHS:
Vicksburg High School’s ninth-grade boys basketball team defeated Pearl 61–51 on Thursday night.

Gerrick Durrell Jr. led the Gators with 17 points. Caleb Logan followed with 12 points, including two 3-pointers — one in the second quarter and another in the fourth. Antwuan Chiplin added nine points, Daylon Washington scored eight, and Noah Bass had six. Chareck Cable and Daylen Atkins each finished with two points.

In the girls’ game, the Missy Gators fell 45–30. Keasia Hatchett led the team with 14 points, while Nykeria Truitt scored 10. Morgan Atkinson added four points, and Chiniyah Mixon had two.

The VHS boys are 1-1 under Head Coach Julius Williams and the Missy Gators are 1-1 under Head Coach Deatra Cable.

Meanwhile, Warren Central’s ninth-grade boys rolled past Clinton 65–30.

Ja’Ven Lee led the Vikings with 14 points, followed by Jordan Younger with 11 and Cameron Zellous with 10. Braylen Selvy scored nine, Jarrad Williams had seven, and Doss Morgan added five. Henry Trisby contributed four points, Jordan Taylor scored three, and Delvin Thompson Jr. chipped in two.

The Vikings are now 2-0 on the season under Head Coach Calvin Morgan.
