Winter is coming – bad weather heading our way
The National Weather Service in Jackson is alerting the area of bad weather heading our way.
Two events are forecasted. On Friday morning we will likely have severe thunderstorms in the area. Damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, hail up to quarter size and tornadoes cannot be ruled out. The projection calls for the storm to hit in the morning, maybe as early as 4 a.m. Be weather aware.
An arctic cold blast will hit the area on Monday. Temperatures will be in the teens and wind gusts will make it feel like it’s below zero. Frostbite is a real threat. Freezing pipes along with power outages are to be expected.
John Elfer with Warren County Emergency Management advises you to have a plan that includes a way to be alerted to weather conditions in your area. Organize now for up to 72 hours of supplies in case precipitation, snow or ice accompanies the storm. “Even if the storm is not as bad as projected, you’ll have the supplies for the next storm,” advised Elfer.
