Famous Amos brings laughter and inspiration to fans

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Comedian Famous Amos made a special appearance in Vicksburg over the weekend for the annual Celebrity Basketball Game, where local children received free school supplies.
Amos Taylor, better known by his stage name Famous Amos, has become a beacon of laughter and positivity across the South. Hailing from a Memphis, Tennessee, his journey into comedy began in high school, where he proudly embraced the title of “class clown.”
“I’ve always been the school clown,” he said. “I started with talent shows and doing stand-up so I could make people laugh, and when the social media era started, I began experimenting with that too.”
What began as a hobby quickly turned into a purpose. Since launching his stand-up career in 2009, Famous Amos has made it his mission to bring joy to others—especially youth. Beyond comedy, his heart for service shines through his work with nonprofits like “I Bet You Won’t Lend a Hand” and “I Bet You Won’t Stop the Violence.”
In 2018, nearly a decade after starting his comedy career, he attended the BET Awards—an emotional milestone that symbolized how far he had come.
“It was something I never dreamed of,” he said. “It was surreal, especially coming from the background that I come from.”
A graduate of Northside High School and Mississippi Valley State University, Amos is now expanding his talents into acting. He has appeared in eight films, including Hole in the Wall, Crosses, and Craps.
With over one million followers on Instagram and nearly 900,000 on Facebook, Famous Amos continues to grow his platform through comedy skits, high-energy dance videos, and uplifting content that resonates with people of all ages.
Though he’s already achieved so much, he says he’s just getting started.
