Keng Smith made a perfect score on his state test for the third year in a row
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — An Academy of Innovation student, Keng-Kenneth Smith, has achieved a rare academic milestone for the third consecutive year.
Smith, an eighth grader, recently earned a perfect score of 799 on the math portion of the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP) state exam. It marks the third year in a row Smith has scored perfectly, following last year when he reached the top score in both math and English language arts.
Smith, the son of Kenneth and Lowanda Smith, continues to balance his success in the classroom with athletics and other extracurricular activities. He plays basketball for the Warren Central Junior High School eighth grade team under Coach Swartz and Coach Batty, and he is also a member of the Little Big Blue Band. In baseball, he earned a spot on the Warren Central freshman team under Coach Broome and Coach Dewald.
In addition, Smith is a two-time state champion and two-time MVP in travel baseball, a straight-A student and an active member of Greater Grove Street Missionary Baptist Church, led by the Rev. Dr. Casey Fisher.
