VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The City of Vicksburg is taking proactive steps to enhance roadway safety and community beautification through a coordinated tree maintenance initiative. For the past week, crews from Hopes Debris Removal Inc., working alongside state partners, have been assessing and removing dead or infested ash trees along the interstate corridors surrounding Vicksburg.

This project is designed to reduce roadway hazards and prevent storm-related damage as the city enters the fall and winter seasons. By addressing these issues early, the City is prioritizing both public safety and long-term community well-being.

“As Alderwoman of Ward 2, I am encouraged to see these proactive efforts taking place in our city,” said Alderwoman Vickie Bailey. “By addressing these concerns now, we are not only protecting drivers and residents but also improving the overall appearance and health of our community. The City Board is committed to taking similar actions within our neighborhoods to ensure that Vicksburg continues to move forward.”

The initiative reflects a broader commitment by both the State of Mississippi and the City of Vicksburg to safeguard residents, strengthen infrastructure, and maintain the natural beauty of the region. Removing
hazardous trees before they become a danger helps reduce risks of falling debris, storm damage, and roadway obstructions.

Residents can expect to see continued improvements as the City of Vicksburg pursues additional projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure, beautifying public spaces, and building greater community resilience.
