Porter’s Chapel tops Tallulah Academy 36-28 in road victory

TALLULAH, La. (VDN)Porter’s Chapel Academy went on the road Friday and defeated Tallulah Academy 36-28, evening its record at 3-3 under head coach Blake Purvis.

The first quarter was scoreless before the offenses came alive in the second. Tommy Nelson scored a touchdown for PCA in the period, hauling in a reception of 8 yards from quarterback Chad Fuson. Auston Moore also rushed for a score.

The Eagles trailed 16-12 at halftime.

Nelson continued his dominant night after the break, catching a 54-yard touchdown pass from Fuson and adding rushing scores of 40 and 9 yards. Auston Moore caught two two-point conversions, while Lakelan Pecanty added another.

Nelson finished with 83 rushing yards and 80 receiving yards. Fuson threw for 108 yards as he went 9 of 15 with two touchdowns.

Defensively, Nelson led the way with 12 tackles. Moore and Clayton McClure each recorded eight tackles, and Pecanty added six tackles and two sacks while also rushing for 72 yards on offense.

For TA, JT McDaniel threw touchdowns to Shepard Morgan and Denton Ray. He also rushed for two more.

Porter’s Chapel will travel to Humphreys Academy next Friday.
