More than 30 athletes attend 23rd annual Play2Wynn Basketball Camp
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —
More than 30 young athletes spent the week sharpening their basketball skills at the 23rd annual Play2Wynn Basketball Camp, hosted by Vicksburg native Donna Brown-Wynn.

Brown-Wynn has returned to her hometown each summer for more than two decades to provide local youth with instruction and mentorship through the five-day camp.
“I’m super excited that this camp has had the longevity it has had, and just to be a part of this with my community in Vicksburg is great,” Brown-Wynn said.

Throughout the week, campers participated in a variety of basketball drills and skill-development sessions with assistance from Moriah Harrison, Brycen Jones, Mehki Mims, Coach Sonya Washington and Coach LaToya Lumpkin.

Brown-Wynn said one of the most rewarding aspects of the camp is watching participants improve each day while seeing many return year after year. Two of the camp’s longtime attendees, Jones and Mims, have transitioned into leadership roles by returning to help instruct younger players.
Campers Pharrah Moody and Zay’la Davis said they enjoyed the experience and appreciated the instruction they received.

“It was really fun and I love Coach Wynn, and she teaches us to have fun while playing the game,” Moody said.
“I loved everything about this camp, and she’s getting us ready to play on a higher level,” Davis added.
Brown-Wynn plans to host another basketball camp next month.
