VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A Vicksburg area man collided with a log truck on 61 South at Grange Hall Road.

Just before 6:45 p.m., a motorcycle made contact with a log truck near the intersection of 61 South and Grange Hall Road. The bike made contact with the right rear of the empty log truck as the truck was turning into a parking area near the old bank location at Grange Hall and 61 South.

The driver of the motorcycle was trapped under the wheel of the truck for several minutes as first responders, including Vicksburg Fire Chief Trey Martin, worked to get him free. The driver has significant damage to his left leg, but is expected to survive. A medical helicopter was contacted to assist in transporting the man to a Jackson area trauma hospital, but it was too far away to be of benefit. The man is being transported via ambulance. Rescue and a fire medic unit were at the scene along with Warren County Deputy, WC-24, Daniel Thomas.
