Warren Central advances to North State for the third consecutive year
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Warren Central High School’s girls soccer team is headed back to the North State Championship for the third straight season after a 4-0 win over Center Hill on Friday night.
“I was thinking about this the other day that if we could go back to North State again maybe it would prove some doubters wrong,” WC coach Jeremy Lawrence said.
Jordan Polk and Laney Bull accounted for the goals in the victory. Polk scored twice in the first half, with assists coming from Avery Hern and Bull.
“I did not want my senior year to be over yet so I’m glad that we pulled it off,” Polk said. “I’m ready to face Saltillo for the third time, but all glory goes to God.”
Bull added two goals in the second half. She was assisted by Addi Mullen and Polk.
“It was definitely some nerves going into this, but once we were settled in we knew we could take them,” Bull said.
Emily Harvey served as the goalkeeper for WC and allowed zero goals.
The win improved the Lady Vikes to 15-6-1 on the season. Warren Central will travel next week to face Saltillo, which advanced with a 5-0 victory over Neshoba Central.
