VHS baseball crushed Yazoo City 23-9

YAZOO CITY, Miss.(VDN) — The Vicksburg High School baseball team delivered an offensive explosion Tuesday night, overpowering Yazoo City 23-9 to improve to 6-4 on the season under Head Coach Brandon Kincaid.

The Gators broke the game open early, plating six runs in the third inning before adding five runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to seal the dominant victory.

Kobe Cartwright led the charge with a double and a triple, finishing with three RBIs. He also made an impact on the mound, striking out two batters and allowing no hits. Ashton Harris drove in four RBIs while collecting two hits, and Abel Gonzalez matched that production with a double and four RBIs of his own. Gonzalez also struck out two batters.

Nick Carson powered the lineup with two doubles and three RBIs, while Harrison Fisher added two hits and two RBIs. Jordan Clay recorded two hits in the win.

Allan Allen contributed one hit, Hiram Wells finished with one hit and one RBI, and Jacobie Simpson added a hit to round out the Gators’ offensive showcase.

Vicksburg High will return to action Friday when they host crosstown rival Warren Central.
