Unplug & Play event set for March 21
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — United Way of West Central Mississippi will host Unplug & Play Day Camp on Saturday, March 21, 2026, providing local children an opportunity to disconnect from screens and reconnect through hands-on play, creativity and friendship. Registration has been extended to Wednesday, March 18.
The free day camp will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gertrude Young Jackson Street Center, located at 803 Jackson Street in Vicksburg, and is open to students in third through sixth grade.
The event is designed to create a fun, engaging environment where youth can participate in games, creative activities and team-building experiences that encourage social connection and imagination while promoting a healthy break from digital devices.
“Children today spend so much time on screens, and we wanted to create a space where they can rediscover the joy of playing, creating and building friendships face-to-face,” Teens United representatives said. “Unplug & Play Day Camp is about giving kids the opportunity to simply be kids again.”
Participants will enjoy a variety of activities designed to spark creativity, encourage teamwork and help youth develop new friendships in a screen-free environment.
Parents or guardians can register their child by completing the registration form and emailing it to alyssa@unitedwayvicksburg.org. The registration form can be picked up from 920 South Street or emailed by reaching out to alyssa@unitedwayvicksburg.org
The camp is part of United Way of West Central Mississippi’s youth engagement efforts through its Teens United affinity group, which encourages young leaders to organize and support community service projects that positively impact children and families in the region.
