The public is invited to attend.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held each year on the first Thursday of May inviting individuals to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

Vicksburg Mayor Willis Thompson asks all citizens to come together and fellowship during this day of inspiration and hope.

“I urge everyone in our community to pray for our city, state and nation and show gratitude for the blessings that we’ve been given. This day reminds us that we are more alike than we are different. We are all created in the image of God. We humbly send our petitions up and ask for guidance and grace for everyone who will be gathered in prayer,” said Mayor Thompson.
