Remembering Jerry Ferguson
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The family and friends of Jerry Ferguson, who passed in January of this year, are celebrating his life.
On April 19, 2026, we celebrate the life of Jerry Ferguson. Born on December 25, 1969, Jerry passed away on January 14, 2026. This remembrance is both bittersweet and deeply meaningful to all who knew and loved him.
We are profoundly grateful for the many ways Jerry touched our lives—as a devoted husband, proud father, loyal friend, and compassionate nurse. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman who found great joy in sharing those passions with others.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Christine Newman Ferguson, and their beloved son, Devin Pearce Ferguson. Christine and Jerry shared their lives together beginning in 1994 and were married in 1999.
He is also survived by his foster daughters/nieces, Makinzie and Kathryn Annestedt; his mother, Mary Katherine “Kitty” Ferguson; his sister-in-law, Melanie Newman, and her sons, Andrew Shelton and Andrew Gilcrease; his nieces, Jennifer Henson (Chris), Lori Grace, and Alison Ferguson, and her son, Levi Ferguson; his mother-in-law, Julia Lindsay (Clarence); and his grandmother, Freeda Burgess, along with multiple great-nieces and nephews.
Later in life, Jerry made meaningful connections with his biological family after his Aunt Martha Weeks located him through an ancestry website. He was grateful for the opportunity to meet his biological family prior to his passing. He is also survived by his sisters, Claire (Kenneth) Kelly and Wendy Gilbert, and his brother, Milford Weeks.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Troy Ferguson; his brother, Alan (Penny) Ferguson; his biological parents, Marilyn and Brock Weeks; his father-in-law, Donnie Newman; and his nephew, Peyton Brock Kelly.
Jerry and Christine built a devoted
partnership that endured through all the seasons of life. Both were registered nurses and spent part of their careers as travel nurses, forming lifelong friendships with colleagues and leaving a lasting impact on their patients and peers.
Jerry’s life was one of compassion, dedication, and connection. He will be remembered for his kindness, his quiet strength, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
