John Minor and Linda Stevens have entered the race for the Warren County Justice Court judge seat representing the Central District.

The two candidates will challenge Walter Armstrong, who was appointed to the position by the Warren County Board of Supervisors in May following the death of Justice Court Judge James Jefferson in February. Armstrong has previously announced that he will seek election to the seat in the Nov. 3 special election.

Minor is a retired law enforcement officer who served 30 years with the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Stevens spent 34 years in law enforcement with the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

The special election is scheduled for Nov. 3, 2026.
