VPD net one in Athens Avenue shooting investigation
Vicksburg Police Department has made an arrest concerning a shooting on Athens Avenue that occurred in April of this year.
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg Police Department has made an arrest concerning a shooting on Athens Avenue which occurred in April of this year.
VPD has arrested Dvonte King, 30, of Vicksburg, after identifying him as a suspect in the April 8, shooting that occurred around 8 p.m. in the area of Athens Avenue.
Officers initially responded to reports of gunfire and learned that one individual had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle and was listed in stable condition.
According to reports, following an extensive investigation, investigators identified King as the suspect in this case. On July 13, King turned himself in at the department and was taken into custody without incident.
The investigation determined the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the victim and the suspect.
VPD said it appreciates the work of its investigators in this case.
