Body discovered on Washington Street identified as 57-year-old man

The man whose body was found Wednesday morning on Washington Street in Vicksburg has been identified as 57-year-old David Arthur Fox.

According to the Vicksburg Police Department, officers responded around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, after a passerby discovered an unresponsive man lying on the walkway near a building in the 900 block of Washington Street.

Authorities later identified the deceased as Fox. No additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding his death has been released.

Fox’s body has been sent to the Mississippi State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy. Results from the examination could take several weeks to be completed.

Vicksburg Daily News contacted VPD Chief Larry Burns on Wednesday afternoon seeking comment on the investigation. As of publication time Thursday afternoon, no response had been received and the public is still waiting on answers from the Chief. It has now been more than 24 hours since the message was sent.
