15 year old arrested for Waltersville Estates shooting

A 15-year-old has been arrested and charged as an adult for a shooting at Waltersville Estates that injured three people. The investigation is ongoing, with more arrests anticipated.

A 15-year-old has been arrested and charged as an adult in connection with a shooting at Waltersville Estates that left three people suffering from gunshot wounds.

The Vicksburg Police Department announced that Davonte Thigpen Jr., 15, was arrested in connection with the Aug. 18 shooting at the Waltersville Estates apartment complex.

Thigpen has been charged as an adult with aggravated assault.

He appeared in court Friday, Aug. 21, where he received a $25,000 bond.

The shooting left three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds, including Thigpen. Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing as investigators continue gathering evidence and working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Additional arrests are expected in connection with the case, according to police.

The Vicksburg Police Department said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
