Victim identified in fatal stabbing

The victim of a fatal stabbing in Vicksburg has been identified as 38-year-old Christopher Anderson. He was found near a fence line with a stab wound, and a person of interest is in custody as the investigation continues.

The victim in Friday night’s fatal stabbing in Vicksburg has been identified as 38-year-old Christopher Anderson.

Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey identified Anderson as the man who was found dead Friday night.

According to the Vicksburg Police Department, officers found Anderson near a fence line in the area of the Interstate 20 West ramp to U.S. Highway 61 South on Friday, Aug. 21. Police said he appeared to have suffered a stab wound.

Anderson had not been identified when VPD initially announced the homicide investigation Friday night. At the time, investigators said they were working to determine the victim’s identity and the circumstances surrounding his death.

Police also announced that a person of interest had been detained in connection with the homicide. No additional information about that person or the circumstances leading to the stabbing has been released.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, and VPD said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
