The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Hinds Community College to host a job fair Friday, July 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will be held at the Loviza Building on the Hinds Community College Vicksburg campus, where the sheriff’s office will be recruiting applicants for deputy and correctional officer positions. Staff members will be available throughout the day to answer questions from anyone interested in a career in law enforcement.

Applicants for correctional officer positions must be at least 21 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Those hired must complete the state-mandated correctional officer training course within their first year of employment.

Starting pay is $17.75 per hour for non-certified correctional officers and $19.75 per hour for certified officers. Warren County also provides insurance benefits, with duties including direct inmate supervision and inmate transportation.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said the county’s new jail, one of the newest correctional facilities in the state, is expected to open later this year.

The sheriff’s office is also hiring deputies for court services, patrol, traffic enforcement, warrants and civil process, and investigations.

Deputy applicants must be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Military service or a college degree is preferred. New hires must attend the police academy to become certified.

Starting pay for non-certified deputies is $23.30 per hour, while certified deputies earn $24.65 per hour. Overtime opportunities are available.

The county also covers employee insurance, and family members may be added to coverage at an additional cost.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office will pay for all required training and certifications for both deputy and correctional officer positions.
