VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation (SCHF) is very excited to present the 38th Annual Over the River Run. The Foundation along with sponsors and volunteers present this very special community venture. This event welcomes hundreds to the City of Vicksburg and will serve as a wonderful family event. It will take place on Saturday, October 10that 8:00am and begins at the Old Mississippi River Bridge located at I-20 and Washington Street. Join us in keeping a Vicksburg tradition running strong! For 38 years, the Over the River Run has brought runners, walkers, families, businesses, and our community together for a fun and memorable event. What began decades ago has become a beloved tradition that celebrates fitness, community, and the unique spirit of Vicksburg.
This unique run follows a scenic course heading west across the Mississippi River to Delta, Louisiana and then returns back to the finish line. The event involves a 5-mile run, 5-mile walk and a one-mile fun run for kids. Complimentary musical entertainment, fun and refreshments for all runners, walkers and volunteers will follow the race in the Ameristar Delta Point parking lot. Registration is open now. Take advantage of early bird registration! The entry fees are $35 for the 5-mile race and $20 for the 1-mile fun run. Family packages are available, as well. After September 18th, entry fees will be $40 for the 5-mile race and $25 for the 1-mile fun run. Register early to receive your OVER THE RIVER RUN T-SHIRT! Early registration is strongly encouraged to secure a place at the event. Entry forms and complete event details are available by visiting www.southernculture.org/events/otrr.htm. Entry forms and fees can be dropped off at SCHF Business Office or mailed to SCHF, 1302 Adams Street, Vicksburg, MS 39180 or register online at www.RaceRoster.com. Race packet pick-up will be on October 9th at the SCHF Auditorium (corner of Crawford and Cherry Streets) from 3:00-6:00pm and the morning of the race at the race site.
Sponsorships are being accepted. Volunteers are needed in many areas of planning the event.
The race will benefit the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation, your community’s cultural center. Proceeds from the race will support the continued programming and preservation efforts of the SCHC. Help us make year 38 the best year yet!
