VPD releases statement on three shootings
The Vicksburg Police Department has released a statement on three shootings that occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at around 6:30 p.m.
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Police Department has released a statement on three shootings that occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at around 6:30 p.m.
According to the release, VPD officers responded to a report of shots fired at the Waltersville Estates apartment complex.
Upon arrival, officers located 15-year-old Anthony Nash suffering from a gunshot wound. Nash was transported to Merit Health River Region for treatment.
While officers were investigating the incident, they were notified that 19-year-old Jayden Bailey had arrived at Merit Health River Region suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers were subsequently notified that a second 15-year-old, Davonte Thigpen, Jr., had also sustained a gunshot wound and was receiving treatment at Merit Health River Region.
The conditions of all three individuals are unknown at this time.
Preliminary information indicates the shooting may have stemmed from an ongoing dispute involving the three individuals.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
