VPD releases crime stats for July
The Vicksburg Police Department released the crime statistics for the month of July at the BOMA meeting held Monday, Aug. 17.
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Police Department released the crime statistics for the month of July at the Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting held Monday, Aug. 17.
The department logged 3,303 calls, filed 866 reports, made 372 arrests, served 233 warrants, issued 224 citations, gave four warnings and submitted 14 DUIs.
For the months of June and July, Vicksburg had one murder charge in June and none in July. There were no cases of manslaughter or rape during the the two month period.
The department reported two robberies in June and two in July. Pertaining to aggravated assault, Vicksburg had five cases in June and four in July.
The department reported two business burglaries in June and only one in July, but investigated seven residential burglaries in June and only four in July.
As pertaining to auto burglaries, VPD reported eight in June- three from locked vehicles, five from unlocked. In July, VPD reported two auto burglaries both from unlocked vehicles.
There was one case of auto theft in June but the department reported five in the month of July.
There were no cases of cracking or kidnapping during there two month period.
The department did announce 23 reported domestic violence cases in June and 20 in July.
