Carpet One: Floor and Home to celebrate 25 years

VICKSBURG, Miss. – Carpet One has been a staple of the Vicksburg community since 1999 and will celebrate 25 years in a celebration at the store tomorrow, at 4 p.m.

“The store opened in 1999 down where Goldies is now,” said Hays Latham, Vice President of Operations. “It was Porter Paint on one side, Carpet One on the other.”

The locally owned and operated business has been in it’s current building since 2005 and while the company may be known for carpet, they also do all types of flooring; including engineered wood, laminate, tile and others for both commercial and residential.

Latham said as part of a co-op, they have a thousand store buying power that allows them to keep pricing better than a “mom and pop” store, are able to provide exclusive products direct from the manufacturer, as well as being able to provide longer term warranties .

This year, Carpet One joined forces with Home Accessories and More, formerly in the outlet mall, to offer customer not only a variety of flooring options, but home accessories as well.

Latham said that a lot has changed over the twenty five years of business.

“The material that we sell now wasn’t even invented back then,” said Latham.
