Chris Burks

Local radio personality, disc jockey, entertainer, voice actor, great guy, and good-to-everyone friend Chris Burks has died.

Burks has been in ill health for several months, and his health worsened the past few months. On March 4, 2024, he was let go from his long-time position at 101.3. The loss of that position came not long after he and his wife separated. Regardless, Burks kept an upbeat approach and worked to find new employment to care for his children Reed, Tanner, Kimberlyn, Kyler, and Annabelle. Burks was also Coraline, Newt and Vivian’s grandfather.

He went to the hospital last week with chest pains and discovered he had a heart attack. In the past week, he had additional medical issues related to that, and today, he succumbed.

Burks was one of the community’s most recognizable faces and voices for decades, often leading events, including the Blair Batson Radiothon, which raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for children.

He passed just a couple of hours ago, and no arrangements have been made at this time.
