VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Derrick “DJ” Allen, a Vicksburg native, was selected to compete for the D1 National Mississippi Team. Back in January, he helped lead his squad to a 10U national championship in Arizona.

Allen continued his strong play this weekend at the Battle in the Mountains tournament, where he made a major impact on defense. He recorded multiple tackles for loss, applied pressure with several quarterback hurries and delivered a key strip-sack that resulted in a fumble.

Allen also plays locally for the Warren County Ravens, where the 11-year-old has already established himself as a standout. He is a two-time 12U champion and sealed last season’s Super Bowl victory with a clutch forced fumble.

Allen is set to continue his success on the national stage with upcoming tournaments scheduled for May in Arkansas and January in Dallas.
