Dorothy Ann White Kline Miles receives lifetime achievement award
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN)—Dorothy Ann White Kline Miles received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Vicksburg Homecoming Benevolent Club on Saturday. She received the award at Saturday night’s annual ceremony where the club celebrated its 50th anniversary.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is the most prestigious award given at the event. It is given to an individual or individuals who have demonstrated distinguished humanitarianism toward the organization and the Vicksburg Warren County community.
Miles was presented the award by the Vicksburg Homecoming Benevolent Club President Willie Glasper
Dorothy was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and is a native of Cayuga. She is the daughter of the late Mr. Robert White Sr. and Mrs. Annie Bell Stewart White, and is the second of ten children.
Dorothy is a 1970 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School. After graduation, she married and relocated to Omaha, Nebraska, where she started a family. She later returned to Vicksburg and entered the workforce. Her jobs included caregiver, factory worker, and volunteer work—roles that helped shape her into the person she is today.
She later attended Hinds Community College and earned an Associate Degree in Child Development. For over 30 years, Dorothy has found joy and purpose in helping and serving others—a calling she considers her greatest reward.
Dorothy has been a faithful member of Trinity Temple Baptist Church (formerly Bingham Memorial M.B. Church) since the age of ten, where she was baptized by Rev. W.W. Lassiter Sr. Though the church name has changed, she continues to praise the Lord under the leadership of Rev. Dr. James C. Archer Sr.
Dorothy holds several honors and certificates, including her baptism certificate, high school diploma, and an Associate of Arts degree from Hinds Community College. She also sang in the youth choir and remains a steadfast presence in her church community.
