Flashes Clinch Playoff Spot After a Win on Senior Night

Vicksburg, Miss.-Tuesday night was special for the St. Aloysius boys’ soccer team as they celebrated senior night along with clinching a playoff spot. The Flashes worked hard until the final seconds to take home the 3-2 win against Bayou Academy.
“We came out and took care of business but this was huge for us tonight because they gave it all they had,” St. Al Head Coach Jay Madison said. “I told them earlier that they weren’t going to give it to them so they had to work.”
Jayden Wheeldon scored early but the referees called an offsides which erased the point. BA eventually got on the board first but the Flashes would soon tie the game at 1-1 after Wheeldon threw the ball in and Sam Hall was able to kick it threw the net.

Less than a minute later, Corbin Burroughs kicked it to Dalton Windham who earned the second goal of the night to put the score at 2-1.

Coming out of halftime, the Flashes kept their lead as Marques Flowers continued to grab some key saves. Burroughs came away with the Flashes’ final goal of the night midway through the second half.
The hard-fought game ended with a save from Flowers that helped St. Al reach the playoffs.
St. Aloysius will begin their playoff journey on February 6.
The Flashes recognized nine seniors before tonight’s win which consisted of John Ellis Montgomery, Eli Shiers, Jayden Wheeldon, Brody Barnett, Sam Hall, JR McCain, Corbin Burroughs, Marques Flowers and Dalton Windham.
