Kittens need a loving home after being found behind thrift store
Momma, Phoebe nurses her last two kittens
VICKSBURG, MS – Two kittens and their mom need a loving home after being found behind a local thrift store. On October 3, the Vicksburg Police Department took the kittens in until they could find a foster home. Holly James saw a post about the cats on Facebook and immediately decided to take them into her care.
According to James, who currently has custody of the kittens and the mom, she believes they were born on or between October 2 and 3.
James began to care for the mother cat, Phoebe, and her five new babies. Unfortunately, three of the five babies passed away due to illness “due to the unsanitary conditions the mother was left in to give birth, three kittens had infections and passed away within the first few days of being here,” according to James. She has done everything in her power to look after and love Phoebe and her remaining kittens.
Two kittens left
The two remaining kittens are a boy kitten named Peanut and a girl named Poppy.
“They are just now starting to explore and play and they are so sweet,” said James. “The mom [Phoebe] is also in need of a home. It’s obvious she’s had a previous owner as she doesn’t meet a stranger and is very loving,” said James.
She added that Phoebe deserves her forever home after all she’s been through in the past month.
James will continue to care for Phoebe, Peanut, and Poppy until they are ready to meet their new families. Peanut and Poppy will be ready to wean and go to their new homes on November 13. If anyone is interested in adopting Phoebe or her babies, contact Holly James at 662-417-987.
