Lady Vikes pick up district win over Greenville
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — The Warren Central High School girls’ basketball team rolled to a 66-21 victory over Greenville on Tuesday night, while the WC boys dropped a hard-fought 69-56 decision to the Hornets.
“It was a great night of leadership and defense,” Warren Central girls head coach Heather Casey said. “We needed this win, and this was progress. It was nice to see us play a complete game today.”
Tonight’s win was Casey’s first district victory as Head Coach.
The Lady Vikes placed three players in double figures, led by Camara Evans with 20 points. Ka’Ryn Henderson added 12 points, while Arrionna Jenkins finished with 10.
Warren Central jumped out to a 15-4 lead in the first quarter and continued to build momentum in the second. Jenkins took over offensively as the Lady Vikes extended their advantage to a 36-13 lead at halftime. Keasia Williams connected on a 3-pointer in the second quarter to help fuel the run.

In the boys’ game, Warren Central stayed within striking distance for much of the night before falling 69-56 to Greenville.
“We have a tough district and Greenville had a lot of shooters,” WC boys head coach Keith Williams said. “We were right there for three quarters, but we couldn’t recover late in the game. We’re not going to quit.”
Deric Gibbs and Micah Moore led the Vikings early, though Warren Central trailed 19-12 after the first quarter. Ja’Ven Lee and Nash Morgan provided a spark in the second quarter as the Vikings cut the deficit to 33-31 at halftime.
The third quarter proved decisive as Greenville outscored Warren Central 23-11, using consistent perimeter shooting to pull away.
Gibbs led WC with 17 points, followed by Morgan with 12 and Moore with seven. Avery Williams and Camryn Walker scored four points each, while Lee also added four. Jordan Taylor and Davon O’Neal finished with three points apiece, and Trystan Fuller scored two.
