VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Leadership Vicksburg’s Canvas Collective will host Makers Day, a free, family-friendly community event celebrating creativity and hands-on learning, on Saturday, March 7, from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Constitution Firehouse in downtown Vicksburg.

Designed for students in grades K–12 and their families, Makers Day will feature interactive art activities, live demonstrations from local artists, and opportunities for children to explore creativity in an engaging and welcoming environment. Participants will not only observe demonstrations but also create their own projects to take home.

Organizers say the event is intended to foster artistic expression, encourage hands-on learning, and highlight the depth of creative talent within the Vicksburg community.

“Makers Day is about giving kids the chance to create something with their own hands,” said Justin Clarkston, a representative of Leadership Vicksburg’s Canvas Collective. “We want students to experience the confidence that comes from turning an idea into something tangible, while also connecting families and showcasing the incredible talent we have right here in our community.”

Local artists and art educators will volunteer their time to lead demonstrations and guide activities throughout the afternoon. The event is powered entirely by community volunteers and supporters who are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for young people in Warren County.

Makers Day is free and open to the public.

Community members, artists, and volunteers interested in participating or supporting the event are encouraged to contact Justin Clarkston at justin.clarkston@vicksburgpost.com for more information.
