Night three names four winners in 2026 Miss Mississippi Competition

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Convention Center was filled when four new winners were named in the third night of preliminaries of the 2026 Miss Mississippi Competition.
The judges selected a three way tie for the Health and Fitness portion of the event naming Miss Starkville Morgan Nelson, Miss Capital City Jane Granberry and Miss Barnes Crossing Jaycee Drew Janzen as winners.
In the Talent portion of the evening, Miss New South, Kayla Braswell was named as the winner following her operatic vocal singing.
Miss Capital City Jane Granberry was also the winner of of the Talent division in the first night of preliminaries. Granberry is a native of Hattiesburg and attended the University of Mississippi. She took the crowd by storm by performing a high energy Jazz routine dance.
Granberry’s Community Service Initiative is Literacy Without Limits dedicated to ensuring every Mississippian has the opportunity to become a confident reader and critical thinker. She hopes to become a business owner and Strategy Marketing Consultant.
Miss Starkville Morgan Nelson is a native of Vicksburg and attended Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She has hopes of becoming a medical doctor.
Nelson performed a lyrical dance as her talent in the competition. For her Community Service Initiative, Nelson has developed a program called “Don’t Sugarcoat it” which aims to challenge Mississippians to live healthier lifestyles through diet, exercise and overall health awareness. She claims Mississippi statistically ranks high in health-related conditions like diabetes and obesity, and she wants to help change the statistics by inspiring individuals to take proactive steps toward their well-being.
Also winning in the Health and Fitness portion of the evening was Miss Barnes Crossing Jaycee Drew Janzen. She is a native of Booneville and attended Mississippi State University and plans to become a sales and businesswoman. For her talent, Janzen performed a Polynesian style cultural dance routine.
Janzen’s Community Service Initiative is called “Going Up In Smoke: Vaping and Smoking Prevention”. She created the initiate to educate others about the dangers of smoking and vaping through engaging and interactive events. The program empowers people with facts and support to make healthier choices while raising awareness about nicotine addiction.
Miss New South Kayla Braswell, winner of the evening’s Talent event, is a native of Holcomb and attended William Carey University. She hopes to become a Licensed Music Therapist (MT-BC).
Braswell’s Community Service Initiative is called “Noteworthy”. She aims to travel across the state to advocate and educate about music therapy which focuses on teaching high school students about music therapy and how the career choice could be an option for them.
