Pauline Gaines Lewis 1940-2024
A Celebration of Life will be held for Pauline Gaines Lewis on February 12, 2024, at noon at C J Williams Mortuary Center, 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg.
Visitation will be held at C J Williams Mortuary Center, on February 10, 2024, from 1:00 – 5:00 PM.
Pauline transitioned on February 4, 2024, at the age of 83.
Pauline Gaines Lewis was born on February 10, 1940, in Redwood, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Willie “Will” Gaines and Victoria Boze.
She was a lifelong member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ at an early age. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, canning, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her kind heart, being a loving mother and mother-in-law, and for her gentle spirit.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie “Bill” Lewis; brothers, Arthur Harvey, Luster (Vepor) Gaines, and Charles Gaines; and sisters, Willie Mae Jordan and Genary Harvey, all of Detroit, Michigan.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Donna) Lewis of Phoenix, Arizona; daughters, Gloria (Eric) Hall of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Merry (Kyle) Smith of Hutto, Texas, Ilean (Nathan) Linzy of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Lou Ellen Coleman of Brandon, Mississippi; brother, Wardell (Calanthia) Lewis of Kankakee, Illinois; two sisters, Ellen Jean James of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Berteal (Will) Rogers of Tallulah, Louisiana; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, including the Truly, Dolley, Carson, Williams, and Gaines families.
